Pathways to Sustainability (PtS) and CUCo are organizing the Transdisciplinary Competencies Course on 27–28 November 2025. A limited number of spots are still available for researchers affiliated with one of the EWUU institutes (TU/e, WUR, UU and UMCU). This is a unique opportunity to engage in an intensive, hands-on learning experience that explores the full potential of transdisciplinary collaboration.

Please register as soon as possible but no later than 19 November to secure your place by sending an email to pathwaystosustainability@uu.nl. Please note that attendance on both days is required – it’s not possible to attend part of the training.

About the course

PtS and CUCo have developed this course for researchers, staff and practitioners. After successful pilots, we are now offering it for the PtS and CUCo communities. Building on CUCo’s Spark training and the PtS Transdisciplinary Field Guide, the course provides a practical and reflective learning environment.

In this course, we will introduce and start developing the core competencies for transdisciplinary collaborations across all phases: from the initial encounters between different perspectives, to building long-term collaborations between researchers and societal partners, and framing and carrying out joint projects that integrate diverse kinds of knowledge. This course will focus on how transdisciplinary collaboration can move beyond joint problem-solving, highlighting the possibilities for more meaningful impacts.

Through interactive exercises, participants will reflect on their own experiences, explore what makes knowledge both reliable and socially relevant, and discover which practices and skills help teams work successfully across disciplines and sectors.
