The Dismantling Disparities team is looking for two or more researchers from TU/e and/or UMCU. Please respond by Monday, November 4 (d.mazrekaj@uu.nl) if you are interested.
We are looking for new team members who:
- Have an interest or experience in understanding inequalities in academic success.
- Are curious about how transdisciplinary collaborations might address or challenge these inequalities.
- Bring unique perspectives from their academic discipline or experience (gaming, sociology, modelling, psychology, or any other discipline which can benefit the project objectives).
We are a diverse group of researchers focused on understanding and addressing academic inequalities across different social groups, particularly in relation to gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, and academic hierarchy. Our project aims to explore whether unusual collaborations across disciplines and backgrounds can help dismantle these disparities or, conversely, exacerbate them.
Our interdisciplinary team brings together expertise from sociology, cultural geography and serious gaming. So far, we have engaged in mapping the academic inequalities we observe in our own fields and are planning role-playing exercises to explore the dynamics of transdisciplinary collaborations. We believe that exposing ourselves to different perspectives can foster inclusivity but acknowledge that mixing disciplines could also reinforce existing biases.
Our goal is to build a strong team to apply for an Unusual Collaborations grant, where we will further explore this theme through activities such as role-playing and serious games.
For more information or questions, please contact Deni Mazrekaj (d.mazrekaj@uu.nl) We look forward to hearing from you!
