A comprehensive learning journey for transdisciplinary researchers
Are you an early- or mid-career academic interested in exploring new ways to address the pressing challenges of our age? After a period of strategic reflection, the Centre for Unusual Collaborations is excited to launch its Fellowship Programme, a one-year learning journey into collaborative leadership in transdisciplinary research.
With the Fellowship Programme, CUCo aims to equip you with the skills, sensibilities and virtues to form unexpected and innovative transdisciplinary collaborations.

The CUCo Fellowship Programme may be something for you if:
- You are a mid-career researcher who is curious to explore beyond the boundaries of your own discipline, and academia;
- You are willing to question your disciplinary assumptions and change the way you work in the process;
- You are eager to tackle complex societal questions with a group of like-minded researchers and societal partners;
- You would like to be part of an evolving community of people who value unusual ideas and ways of working;
- You are affiliated with either Eindhoven University of Technology, Wageningen University & Research, Utrecht University, or Utrecht University Medical Centre for the duration of the program.
What will the CUCo Fellowship Programme look like?
- A select group of participants (16-20) from across the EWUU alliance;
- Ten meetings throughout the year, from October 2026 through September 2027 (hours covered by CUCo);
- A curriculum divided into three phases, designed to respectively adopt a beginner’s mindset and try out new things, integrate new practices into your repertoire, and explore collaborations with societal partners;
- Extensive coaching and monitoring as you develop your competencies and engage in transdisciplinary collaborations;
- Funding opportunities to explore collaborations that emerge within your cohort, and guidance to funding opportunities beyond the Fellowship Programme.
