On June 30, the Complexity team hosted their symposium on Complex Systems and Wearable Technologies for Health. The team was thrilled to see researchers from diverse fields come together at Utrecht’s Social Impact Factory to explore how complex systems thinking can help us better understand and leverage wearable technologies for health.

The day featured powerful talks by the guest speakers — Heleen Pennings, who brought insights into the basic concepts and ideas related to complexity theories, and Wim Kamphuis, who presented on his experience in studying the use of wearables in safety-critical professions.

The team also ran a hands-on modelling workshop, where participants worked together to unpack the layered dynamics involved in health behaviors, systems, and wearable interventions.
