The Complexity team is looking for one or more researcher(s) from UMCU or TU/e who add(s) (1) technical expertise with/interest in human wearable or digital health monitoring technology, (2) knowledge about how and why people engage with their own health, or (3) unusual perspectives to the team. Please find more information below.
We are Peter, Heleen (advisory role), Anouk and Kristina, an existing CUCo UCo team. Our experience is diverse: Peter is a physicist, Heleen’s research focuses on education and complexity, Anouk is a marketer, and Kristina is a health demographer. We are looking for an additional member to our team to apply for the UCo programme together for a Unusual Collaboration beginning next year.
This will build on our current UCo project, which explores why people monitor their health with wearables. We’ve conducted a literature review and qualitative interviews on this topic. We are applying a complex system lens to the theme of digital health monitoring. For example, we organized a session of group model building with experts to co-create a conceptual model that try to capture the complexity of the use of wearables for health.
To take this project to its next phase, we plan to continue to adopt a complex system lens to the theme of digital health monitoring. The methods are not limited to systems mapping, examining feedback loops, and analyzing interacting elements and various actors (individual, groups, healthcare providers, researchers, companies, and government) that contribute to why some people monitor their health, and others not.
Ideally, we are looking for a teammate (or teammates!) from UMCU or TU/e who has an interest in the broader topic and/or methods. This person could have: (1) technical expertise with/interest in human wearable or digital health monitoring technology, (2) knowledge about how and why people engage with their own health, or (3) unusual perspectives to our team.
