Knowledge integration as cooking

Purpose

Spark reflections on the process of knowledge integration in inter- and transdisciplinary collaborations

Description

For full instructions, see hand-out & slides.

  1. Exploration

Provide participants with a diversity of food ingredients. All participants pick one ingredient and are invited to:

  • Explore ingredient & combine ingredients
  1. Translation

Invite participants to reflect on:

  • What’s the equivalent of ingredients in ITD integration?
  • What’s the equivalent of the cook in ITD integration?
  1. Harvest

In plenary, invite groups to share their insights. End with a reflection on cooking as metaphor for ITD integration: what does it highlight and what does it mask? What alternative metaphors could be useful when thinking about ITD integration?
